Seit Juni 2026 läuft das neue internationale Projekt WALD, eine Zusammenarbeit des Cactus Junges Theaters, des Conservatoire d’Orléans und der Fundacja TanTEO. Drei Jugendgruppen aus Münster (Deutschland), Lublin (Polen) und Orléans (Frankreich) sind Ende Juni im polnischen Roztocze-Nationalpark zum ersten Mal zusammengekommen. In verschiedenen Tanz- und Theaterworkshops entwickelten sie die Grundlagen für eine gemeinsame Performance. Das erste Ergebnis wurde mitten im Wald gezeigt – mit den Bäumen als einzigem Publikum.
Vom 16. bis 25. Oktober treffen sich die drei Gruppen erneut, um im Herzen des Sauerlands am Sorpesee weiter an der Performance zu arbeiten. Im Rahmen dieser Begegnung sind zwei Aufführungen geplant:

Das Projekt
Im Mittelpunkt von WALD steht der Wald selbst. Insgesamt finden vier Begegnungen in unterschiedlichen Waldtypen statt (Naturschutzgebiet, abgestorbenen Wald, „Wald der Zukunft“). Bei jeder Begegnung verbinden sich wissenschaftliche Impulse, Umweltbildung und kulturelle Workshops (Theater, Tanz, Gesang), durch die die Jugendlichen ihr Wissen und ihre Fähigkeiten erweitern. Am Ende jedes Treffens wird im Wald eine Performance gezeigt, in der die Jugendlichen dem Publikum ihre Arbeit präsentieren. Das Treffen im Sauerland ist die zweite Begegnung des Zyklus und findet im Herbst 2026 in Deutschland statt.
Ziel des Projekts ist es, Jugendliche ebenso wie das Publikum der Aufführungen für die Bedeutung des Waldes und die Probleme, mit denen er konfrontiert ist, zu sensibilisieren. Gemeinsam mit mehreren Partnerorganisationen aus dem Umweltschutz, darunter NABU, Forst Erklärt, Eine Welt Netz e.V. oder Waldstattasphalt, vertiefen die Jugendlichen das Thema Waldschutz, verstehen die Zusammenhänge und die Rolle des Waldes und erfahren, wie sie sich selbst für seinen Schutz engagieren können. Auch die Frage, wie Kunst als Mittel der Sensibilisierung und des Engagements dienen kann, wird behandelt.
Das zweite große Ziel und Thema des Projekts ist die künstlerische Weiterbildung. In Workshops zu Tanz, Theater und Gesang, begleitet von mehreren Künstlerinnen und Künstlern, entwickeln die Jugendlichen bei jeder Begegnung eine Performance, die im Wald aufgeführt wird. Sie verbindet wissenschaftliche Aspekte mit künstlerischem Ausdruck. Die Jugendlichen arbeiten sowohl in kleinen, internationalen Gruppen als auch individuell.
Since June 2026, the new international project WALD has been under way, a collaboration between Cactus Junges Theater, the Conservatoire d’Orléans and the Fundacja TanTEO. Three groups of young people from Münster (Germany), Lublin (Poland) and Orléans (France) met for the first time at the end of June in Poland’s Roztocze National Park. Through a range of dance and theatre workshops, they developed the foundations of a shared performance. This first result was presented in the middle of the forest, with the trees as the only audience.
Second meeting: Sorpesee in the Sauerland
From 16 to 25 October, the three groups will come together again to continue working on the performance in the heart of the Sauerland, at the Sorpesee. Two performances are planned as part of this meeting:

About the project
WALD is all about the forest. In total, four meetings will take place in different types of forest: a nature reserve in Poland, a dead forest in Germany, a human-managed forest in France, and the „forest of the future“ in Germany. At each meeting, scientific input, environmental education and cultural training (theatre, dance, singing) come together, allowing the young participants to expand their knowledge and skills. At the end of every meeting, a performance is staged in the forest to show the public what has been achieved. The Sauerland meeting is the second in the cycle and takes place in Germany in autumn 2026.
The project aims to raise awareness, among the young participants as well as the audiences of the performances, of the role of the forest and the problems it faces. Together with several partner organisations active in environmental protection, including NABU, Forst Erklärt, Eine Welt Netz e.V., ROBINWOOD and Fridays for Future, the young people will explore forest protection in greater depth, understand what is at stake and what role the forest plays, and learn how they can get involved in protecting it. The question of how art can serve as a means of raising awareness and encouraging engagement will also be addressed.
The second major goal and theme of the project is artistic development. In workshops in dance, theatre and singing, guided by several artists throughout the project, the participants develop a performance at each meeting that is presented in the forest. It combines scientific perspectives with artistic expression. The young people work in small multinational groups as well as individually, and a large part of the workshops take place outdoors in the forest.
As at the first meeting, intercultural moments are planned to further strengthen group cohesion, through a variety of intercultural activities and language animation games. Several evaluation and feedback sessions will also be offered, so that participants can share their impressions and the team can adjust the programme and content where needed.
